“In early 2019, I decided to commission a portrait of my beloved, recently passed, 14yr old Whippet, Neo after seeing the beautiful and lifelike work of Mollie Lennon. Mollie was a pleasure to work with and she listened to everything I asked for in the portrait. She made the process easy and communicated effectively and promptly. Mollie showed me the progress of her drawing of Neo every step of the way, checking I was happy with her progress. I asked for several small alteration and she accommodated these perfectly. When I took delivery of Neo’s portrait, I was completely amazed and extremely pleased with the result of such a young artist. Mollie has talent beyond her years and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and commission another work.” ~

— Sharon Tindall

“I asked Mollie to draw a portrait for one of my family members late mastiffs, the reference photo terrible but Mollie sure delivered! The portrait brought out Ozzie’s best features and was better than the photo itself. Mollie has amazing talent and I have no hesitation recommending her to anyone that would like a commission or new artworks.”

— Rose Brell

“Last Christmas I decided on portraits of my grandchildren's pets for their Christmas presents and am so happy I chose Mollie Lennon to complete these works of art that proudly hang on our walls for everyone to enjoy. Mollie captured the soul of our beloved Rex to such degree that my granddaughter was overwhelmed with the likeness. The other portrait was of Crystal, our cat with attitude and yes Mollie captured this exactly. Mollie's professional attitude to her work gives you confidence that she will produce a product that will provide a lifelong memory of our most treasured pets. Thank you Mollie.”

— Jan Whittard

“We love the portrait Mollie has drawn of our beloved Turbo. The detail is amazing and we love that she has captured his personality so beautifully. He has since passed so this portrait has important sentimental value to our whole family.”

— Lynne Dunn

What is the process?

STEP 1

Choose what size you want for your Pet Portrait.

Some factors to consider are:

  • Budget - The larger the portrait is the higher the price will be.

  • Wall space - you may have a certain space you want filled by the portrait.

  • Taste - what do you like in a piece of art?

STEP 2

Send me a couple of high quality photos of your pet and we will discuss some composition options for your pet’s portrait.

Reference Photos Tips:

  • Photos of pets that taken in natural lighting will always look better and work better then the ones taken under artificial lighting.

  • Make sure the photo is taken at the same level as the pet, this is important so the animal looks in proportion and nothing gets distorted.

  • If the pet is a dog, exercise the dog first and try to photograph him/her while they are panting. They tend to look happier!

  • Send me photos that are authentic to your pet- if your pet has a favourite toy or stick, or lays in an unusual position let me know and we can work to include it in the portrait!

Step 3

We both sign the contract and you pay the 50% deposit before I start the portrait.

Step 4

I draw the portrait and I will send you weekly progress photos.

Step 5

Once the portrait is completed I will send you a photo for final approval.

Once you are happy with it you pay the remaining 50% and the packaging, postage and insurance costs.

I will then send you your pet portrait!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • No, I do not include framing in my service ( I do not like to ship glass). My portraits are all standard sizes though and are easy to buy frames for.

*Note: A plain black frame with a white mat is almost always a great option for a pet portrait!

  • From the time you email me to the time the portrait is complete can be anywhere from 10 days to 3 weeks. Then add the postage time on top of that. Most of the time though I will already have my next few portraits lined up so you will need to book your slot. The sooner you email me the sooner I can start your portrait!

*Note: During the run up to Christmas please book as early as possible as I usually am very, very busy.

  • Absolutely not! Black animals are my favourite to draw! There is always colour, detail and contrast in a black animal’s fur that makes it just like any other hair colour though you may not think so.

I have drawn many black haired pets so scroll down and see my some examples!

  • Yes, I can create and ship a pet portrait for an overseas client. The shipping costs will be higher so please factor that in.

  • No, the packaging, postage and insurance costs are a separate cost that is required at the same time as the remaining 50% of the price once the portrait is completed.

The packaging, postage and insurance costs range between $10 - $20 depending on the size.

International shipping costs (outside Australia) will be higher.
